Biripani Jatara, stands at the pinnacle of spiritual significance for devotees who eagerly await this occasion every year.
This event is a testament to the devotion of the locals of gadapadar panchayat under Jeypore block who are joined by people from all walks of life, to commemorate a revolt led by their ancestor on the tribal populace during the period of technology .
Though we live in an era of technology Biripani jatra has its own significance. Surrounded by agricultural land and mountains this festival has its own significance the people here gather to worship the lord to know the weather forecast. It is believed that the priest here after the Puja go to the mountain to know the amount of rain suppose to come this year. As monsoon has arrived the festival say what amount of rain will come so that it will benifit the farmers and locals at large.
Raghuram khillo of Gadapadar panchayat said though we live in an era of modern technology this festival has its own belief. Started from our ancestors and still continuing this festival is a mark to the history which our ancestors started. Khillo said through this festival we can know the amount of rainfall we will get this year which will help us year long to do farming. As we are from farmer families this festival has a very special and we wait every year to celebrate this festival where devotees comes from different regions to worship maa Biripani.
Scheduled from 8th june this year, this festival pays homage to the revered Goddesses Maa Biripani, and is observed biennially in the month of (jesta) in june. Beyond its religious fervour, the Jatara serves as a platform for fostering understanding and harmony between visitors and tribal communities, promoting the preservation of their unique traditions, culture, and heritage on a global scale.
