North East United FC Meets President Murmu After Durand Cup Victory.

New Delhi, Aug 27: Members of the North East United Football Club, winners of the President’s Cup at the Durand Cup Tournament 2025, called on President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan.On the occasion, the President handed over the President’s Cup trophy to actor and entrepreneur Shri John Abraham, owner of the club.

Team captain Shri Redeem Tlang, along with senior officials including the Vice Chiefs of the Army, Navy and Air Force, members of the Durand Football Tournament Society, the Durand Cup Organising Committee, and other dignitaries, were present.

The President lauded the team’s achievement and underlined that the Durand Cup, one of the oldest football tournaments in the world, symbolizes the rich legacy of the Indian Armed Forces in nurturing sports and fostering national unity.
