Dr. Satyajit Naik, IPS, Takes Charge as DIG of Central Range Cuttack with the blessings of Lord Jaggarnath at Puri,
Aug 29, 2025: Senior Odisha-cadre IPS officer Dr. Satyajit Naik (2008 batch) has officially assumed charge as the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police, Central Range, Cuttack, following a recent reshuffle of senior police officers across the state.
He succeeds Praveen Kumar, IPS.Dr. Naik, who previously served as DIG of the Eastern Range, Balasore, has earned a reputation for his proactive policing and people-centric approach.
During his tenure in Balasore, he spearheaded multiple law-and-order initiatives, including intensified security arrangements in Balasore and Bhadrak districts to preserve communal harmony.
He also played a key role in supporting the successful investigation into the melanistic tiger poaching case in Similipal, which led to the arrest of the prime accused from Gujarat.
In May this year, Dr. Naik initiated a probe into allegations of mental harassment filed by Jaleswar SDPO against the then Balasore SP, underscoring his commitment to accountability and ethical policing.
Beyond his professional responsibilities, Dr. Naik is an accomplished marathon runner and fitness enthusiast. He has represented Odisha in several national and international events, including the Apollo Tyres Kolkata Half Marathon 2025, where he completed the run in under two and a half hours.
His passion for sports recently earned him the Odiya Icon Sports Tourism Award.Recognized for his dedication, Dr. Naik has been conferred with the DGP’s Disc Award and also the Best IPS Officer Award by the state DGP earlier in his career.With his new assignment, Dr. Naik will oversee policing across several key districts, including Cuttack, Khurda, Puri, and Jagatsinghpur.
His emphasis on transparent policing, accountability, and community engagement is expected to strengthen law enforcement and public trust in the Central Range.
