“Strict Action in Jeypore: Police Seize 28 Motorbikes with Altered Exhausts”
In a decisive step to curb rising noise pollution, the Jeypore Town Traffic Police on Monday seized 28 motorcycles fitted with modified silencers during a special enforcement drive across the town.The operation, spearheaded by Inspector-in-Charge (IIC) Ullas Ch Rout along with the Town Police Station team, was launched following a surge in public complaints about the nuisance caused by illegally altered exhaust systems.
SP Koraput Rohit Verma said, “Noise pollution from modified silencers is a growing nuisance.Police will continue strict enforcement to ensure peace and a pollution-free environment.Verma also appeal the citizens and garages to cooperate by following the law.
Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Parth Kashyap emphasized that such modifications not only disturb public peace but also violate the Motor Vehicles Act.
Kashyap urged bike owners to immediately remove or replace modified silencers to avoid legal consequences. Kashyap also issued a stern warning to garages and shops engaged in carrying out illegal modifications, cautioning that they too would face strict action.
Speaking on the operation, IIC Ullas Rout appealed to the community for cooperation and requested the citizens to support the police in maintaining peace and a pollution-free environment in Jeypore.Together, we can ensure a safer and healthier town.
While Local residents widely welcomed the police action, noting that the unbearable noise from modified bikes had been disrupting daily life, particularly affecting students, elderly residents, and patients.Several citizens also urged authorities to extend the crackdown to surrounding villages under Jeypore Sadar area, ensuring broader enforcement against violators.
The move is seen as part of a larger effort by Jeypore police to curb traffic violations, noise pollution, and unlawful vehicle modifications, sending a strong message that non-compliance will not be tolerated.
