Indian Army Boosts Military Wargaming with ‘SAMAR’ Conference at WARDEC.
The Wargaming Development Centre (WARDEC) successfully conducted the Joint Conference on Computer Wargame ‘SAMAR’ on 18 September 2025. The event witnessed the participation of officers from all Regional War Centres (WARCENs), WARDEC, and scientists associated with the project.
The primary focus of the conference was on reviewing the methodology of computer wargame conduct at WARCENs, streamlining training processes, ensuring optimal utilisation of wargaming software, and evolving a collaborative approach for developing robust solutions in the field of military simulations.
As part of the deliberations, participants shared their experiences, challenges, and recommendations for further enhancing the realism and effectiveness of computer-based wargaming exercises. Emphasis was laid on adopting a uniform and standardised training model across all centres to ensure greater operational efficiency.
In addition, officers and scientists were briefed about several state-of-the-art software systems developed indigenously by WARDEC, showcasing the organisation’s continuous efforts towards technical absorption, innovation, and modernisation.
The initiative marks a significant milestone in the Indian Army’s journey towards integrating advanced technologies into training, planning, and operational preparedness. The conference also highlighted ARTRAC’s (Army Training Command) vision of making military training more immersive, analytical, and futuristic through next-generation wargaming platforms.
The Joint Conference on Wargame ‘SAMAR’ reaffirmed the commitment of the Indian Army and WARDEC to build a strong foundation for future-ready forces by blending traditional training ethos with modern digital solutions.
