“Koraput Coffee Brews National Pride: PM Modi Hails Odisha’s Aroma of Change”
Koraput Coffee Earns National Praise from PM Modi in ‘Mann Ki Baat’

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during the 127th edition of his popular radio programme Mann Ki Baat on Sunday, lauded Koraput Coffee, describing it as a “pride of Odisha” and a symbol of how local enterprise can drive social and economic transformation.
The Prime Minister praised the unique taste and quality of Koraput Coffee, which has steadily gained national and international recognition. “I have been told that Koraput Coffee tastes amazing, and not only that; besides its taste, coffee cultivation is also benefiting people. There are many who left corporate jobs to work in this sector and are now doing well. Many women too have found dignity and prosperity through coffee,” the Prime Minister said.
Highlighting India’s growing reputation in global coffee culture, he added, “Indian coffee is becoming very popular across the world — brewed in India and loved globally. Koraput Coffee is truly delectable and indeed a pride of Odisha.”
The mention has brought cheer to coffee growers, women self-help groups, and tribal farmers of Koraput district, who have been steadily expanding cultivation in the hilly terrain of the Eastern Ghats. The region’s favourable climate and rich soil have helped develop a distinct flavour profile, now marketed under the “Koraput Coffee” brand.

State officials and local cooperatives have welcomed the Prime Minister’s recognition, noting that it would further boost visibility and market demand for the produce. They also expressed optimism that the acknowledgment will attract more youth and entrepreneurs to agri-based livelihoods.
With the Prime Minister’s endorsement, Koraput Coffee once a quiet local initiative has now emerged on the national stage as a model of rural resilience, women’s empowerment, and sustainable farming.
