Koraput, Senior Superintendent of Circle Jail, Koraput Kuanr Marandi Honoured with President Meritorious Medal and commendation Roll on the occasion of Independence Day 2025, in recognition of his dedication, integrity and honesty in prison service.

Shri Marandi, who joined the State Prison Service in 2000 as an Assistant Prison Officer, has steadily risen through the ranks. He was promoted to jailor in 2009, District Prison Superintendent in 2020, and subsequently elevated to Senior Superintendent in 2024.

Over the years, he has received several honours for his exemplary service, including the Commendation Roll from the Prison Department in 2017 and the DG’s Disc from the Inspector General of Prisons, Odisha, in 2022, during the State Level Prison Foundation Day.

Known for his sincerity, discipline and reliability, Shri Marandi has taken up numerous initiatives for the welfare of inmates. Guided by Mahatma Gandhi’s principle “Hate the crime, not the criminal, but ensure justice,” he has organized reformatory, cultural, spiritual, and vocational training programs inside the jail, helping prisoners reintegrate into society.

Officials and colleagues have praised him for his commitment to prison reforms and inmate welfare, calling the national recognition a proud moment for the entire Koraput district.
