INTACH Koraput Blends Tribute to Teachers with INA Legacy at Guru Divas.

The INTACH (Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage) Koraput Chapter, in collaboration with COATS, celebrated Guru Divas today at the Government High School, NKT Road, Jeypore.

The event began at 11 a.m. and was marked by dignitaries, academicians, students, and heritage enthusiasts gathering to pay tribute to the role of teachers in nation-building and cultural preservation.

Hon’ble MLA of Jeypore, Sri Tara Prasad Bahinipati, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, while Sri Maheshwar Chandra Naik, OAS (I) SAG, Registrar of Vikram Dev University, Jeypore, attended as the Guest of Honour.

The highlight of the programme was the dedication of a new book authored by Dr. Paresh Rath on veteran freedom fighter Gadadhar Mahapatra (INA), a revered son of the soil who contributed significantly to India’s freedom struggle as part of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose’s Indian National Army.

The book was formally presented to the readers, adding to the rich historical literature on Koraput’s legacy of freedom fighters and patriots.Speaking on the occasion, Chief Guest Tara Prasad Bahinipati emphasized the invaluable role of teachers in shaping future generations and highlighted the importance of preserving cultural heritage alongside education.

Guest of Honour Maheshwar Chandra Naik praised INTACH’s consistent efforts in bringing forth hidden stories of the region’s history and promoting them among the younger generation.

Convenor of INTACH Koraput Chapter, P.C. Mohapatro, expressed gratitude to the guests and participants for making the celebration meaningful and urged the community to continue supporting such cultural and educational initiatives.

The event concluded with an interactive session where students and participants reflected on the contributions of teachers, heritage custodians, and freedom fighters, reinforcing the theme of Guru Divas as a day of respect, remembrance, and inspiration.

In his concluding remarks, Co-Convenor C.H. Santakar proposed the vote of thanks, paying tribute to the sacrifices of great leaders and acknowledging the presence of dignitaries, members, and participants. He expressed gratitude to the audience for their active involvement, which made the INTACH meeting both meaningful and memorable.”
