Jeypore Vigilance Nabs Kashipur Forest Range Officer; 5 Buildings, 9 Plots, Gold & Lakhs Seized

Odisha Vigilance on Saturday arrested Sri Antarjyami Sahu, Forest Range Officer of Kashipur Forest Range under Rayagada Forest Division, for amassing disproportionate assets (DA) worth 184% of his known sources of income. He was forwarded to the Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Jeypore after failing to account for the vast assets unearthed during searches.

The Vigilance registered Koraput Vigilance P.S. Case No.28 dated 20.09.2025 against him under Section 13(2) read with Section 13(1)(b) of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018.

Assets Unearthed

During simultaneous raids on his properties and those of his family members across different districts, Vigilance sleuths detected multiple movable and immovable assets running into crores, which included:

Five buildings in Baliguda, Daringbadi, and Berhampur (Kandhamal and Ganjam districts), measuring between 1,000–2,250 sq. ft. each.

Nine valuable plots, including six plots on the outskirts of Baliguda town, one at Jogiapalli (Berhampur), and two in Kodasingh (Ganjam).

Gold ornaments weighing 263.22 grams.Bank and postal deposits worth ₹28.51 lakh.One two-wheeler vehicle.Cash and household articles valued around ₹9.43 lakh.

Vigilance Findings

After a detailed scrutiny of his income, expenditure, and assets, Vigilance found that Sahu possessed assets 184% in excess of his known sources of income, far beyond what he could explain.

The arrest highlights Vigilance’s continued crackdown on corruption within the state, particularly among officials in sensitive departments like Forest and Revenue.

The investigation into the case is still underway, with Vigilance expected to track possible benami transactions, investments, and other hidden assets linked to the officer.
