Major Blow to Naxalism: Maoist Dump Unearthed in Malkangiri Forest by BSF-DVF Joint Operation

In a significant breakthrough against Left Wing Extremism (LWE), the 142 Battalion of the Border Security Force (BSF), in coordination with the District Voluntary Force (DVF), uncovered a major Maoist dump in the Bejangiwada Reserve Forest area of Malkangiri district.

During the search operation, security forces seized a cache of explosives and arms, including two tiffin improvised explosive devices (IEDs) weighing around 3 kilograms each, hand grenades, a large number of gelatin sticks, and other Maoist material. Officials said the recovery has averted possible large-scale attacks that could have endangered the lives of security personnel and innocent civilians in the region.

“This joint operation reflects the growing synergy between BSF and state forces. Recoveries like these not only weaken the operational capacity of Maoists but also strengthen our mission of ensuring lasting peace in Malkangiri,” a senior official stated.

The operation comes at a time when security forces have intensified their combing activities in the cut-off and remote forest areas of southern Odisha, where Maoists often attempt to regroup. Authorities have called the discovery a decisive strike against Maoist violence, reaffirming the government’s commitment to eliminate the menace and restore peace in affected regions.

Local residents have welcomed the action, hoping that such sustained operations will pave the way for development and stability in the tribal belt.
