NCC Cadets Commemorate 150 Years of Vande Mataram with Patriotic Zeal.

The 15 (O) Battalion NCC, Jeypore, organized a grand event to commemorate 150 years of India’s national song Vande Mataram, celebrating its timeless role in inspiring unity, courage, and devotion to the nation.

The programme reflected the spirit of India’s freedom struggle and its ongoing journey toward progress. Cadets paid rich tributes to Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, Mahatma Gandhi, and Shaheed Bhagat Singh, whose ideals continue to guide the nation toward peace, self-reliance, and development.

Adding colour and emotion to the celebration, NCC cadets dressed as legendary freedom fighters, recreating historic moments from India’s struggle for independence. Their performances evoked patriotic fervour among the audience.

The cadets also performed a nukkad natak (street play) on the theme “Viksit Bharat”, depicting India’s transformation through youth power, discipline, and innovation. The play carried a powerful message on nation-building and civic responsibility, earning loud applause from spectators.

The event featured patriotic songs, a mass recitation of Vande Mataram, and motivational speeches recalling the song’s influence in uniting the nation during the freedom movement.

The entire event was coordinated by NCC ANO Lakshman Patra, of Vikram Dev University Jeypore whose efforts ensured smooth organization and enthusiastic participation from cadets. Ex-CTO M.D. Shariff played a key role in training the cadets for the nukkad natak and freedom fighter performances, helping them deliver powerful and expressive portrayals.

Addressing the gathering, lt. Colonel Pritiranjan Dash, Commanding Officer of the 15 (O) Battalion NCC, Jeypore, said,

“Vande Mataram is not just a song — it is the heartbeat of our nation. As we mark 150 years of this immortal creation, every cadet must embody its spirit of courage, unity, and devotion. The youth of today are the architects of a truly Viksit Bharat.”

The event concluded with a patriotic pledge, where cadets vowed to uphold the NCC’s motto of Unity and Discipline and dedicate themselves to the service of the nation.
