“Semiliguda Police Bust Armed Dacoity Gang: Three Arrested, Two Juveniles Apprehended, Firearm, Bike and Cash Recovered”
Three Arrested in Dacoity Case, Firearm and Cash Recovered in Semiliguda.
Police in Semiliguda have arrested three persons and apprehended two juveniles in connection with a recent dacoity case, successfully recovering a firearm, mobile phones, a motorcycle, and stolen cash.
According to official sources, the incident occurred on September 15, 2025, around 7:00 PM near Banguruguda Chhaka on the newly constructed Bharatmala Road. The complainant, Madhusudan Mohanty (44), a salesman from Solabindha village in Ganjam district, reported that he was intercepted by five unknown assailants who looted ₹1,50,000 in cash and his mobile phone at gunpoint.
Based on his written report, Semiliguda Police registered a case (Semiliguda PS Case No. 115, dated 17.09.2025) under Sections 310(2) of BNS read with Section 25/27 of the Arms Act. Inspector S.I. Babaji Kuaner was entrusted with the investigation.
During the probe, police engaged informants and acted on credible intelligence, which led to the identification and arrest of three accused individuals:
1. Kuna Banka (29), son of Late Arjun Banka of Ganjargapur, PS Pottangi, Dist. Koraput.
2. Amar Khosla (19), son of Laki Khosla of Harijansahi, PS Pottangi, Dist. Koraput.
3. Akash Kuldip (28), son of Sadasiba Kuldip of Dambaguda, GP Pitaguda, PS Semiliguda, Dist. Koraput.
Two Childs in Conflict with Law (CCLs) were also apprehended in the case.Police seized from their possession:One country-made pistol resembling a 9 mm with an empty magazine.One motorcycle (OD-10-Q-7612), allegedly used in the crime.The complainant’s Vivo V-72 mobile phone.Cash amounting to ₹9,600.
The accused were produced before the Hon’ble Court on September 20, 2025.Semiliguda Police stated that the operation underscores their commitment to combating armed robberies and ensuring the safety of commuters along newly developed stretches like Bharatmala Road.
The investigation is continuing to trace other culprits and verify possible links to similar crimes in the region.
