“Passengers Struggle at Jeypore Bus Stand: Ticket Counter Setup Leaves Them Unheard”

Passengers at the Government Bus Stand in Jeypore are facing severe inconvenience and indignity while purchasing tickets. The design and functioning of the ticket counter have become a matter of public grievance, with commuters expressing anger over the lack of basic facilities and respect.

According to locals, the counter has been almost fully covered, leaving only a tiny glass opening for interaction. Passengers are compelled to bend and strain themselves to speak to the staff inside. Even then, most people complain that voices are muffled and communication is barely audible, creating confusion and delay.

“Buying a ticket feels humiliating. We have to bend down, speak through a narrow hole, and often we don’t even hear what they are saying. Is this how passengers should be treated?” asked a daily traveler.

The situation has become particularly difficult for elderly people, women, and differently-abled passengers, who find it nearly impossible to manage such an arrangement. Locals say the counter design not only reflects poor planning but also a lack of respect towards the public who depend on state-run bus services.

Many residents have urged the transport authorities and the district administration to immediately intervene and provide a proper, transparent counter system where passengers can communicate freely and with dignity.

Until changes are made, the ticket counter at Jeypore bus stand will continue to be a reminder of how basic passenger needs are often ignored in public transport facilities.
