Hope and Development Rise with the Tricolour at BSF’s New Base in Kandhamal
BSF Establishes New COB in Dharakote, Kandhamal A Step Towards Peace and Development.
In a significant move aimed at strengthening security and promoting development in the Naxal-affected regions of Odisha, the 180 Battalion of Border Security Force (BSF) has established a new Company Operating Base (COB) at Dharakote in Kandhamal district.
The establishment of this new COB marks a decisive step in the ongoing efforts to flush out Left-Wing Extremist (LWE) elements and restore lasting peace in the region. The presence of BSF will not only enhance security but also ensure closer engagement with local communities to foster trust and cooperation.
To mark the occasion, BSF organized a Civic Action Programme (CAP) at Dharakote, aimed at connecting with the local populace and promoting developmental initiatives. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from villagers, local representatives, and BSF personnel.
As part of the celebrations, a flag hoisting ceremony was held, symbolizing national pride and the dawn of a new chapter of peace and progress. Various community engagement activities, including distribution of essential items, sports equipment, and awareness drives, were also conducted to strengthen the bond between the Force and the residents.
Speaking on the occasion, BSF officers highlighted that the establishment of the new COB will act as a strategic point for anti-Naxal operations, while simultaneously facilitating developmental outreach and welfare programmes in remote areas.
The initiative reflects BSF’s continuous commitment towards maintaining internal security, promoting peace, and ensuring socio-economic upliftment in the tribal and remote regions of Odisha.
With the establishment of this new base, optimism runs high among locals — ushering in a new era of peace, hope, and development in Kandhamal.
