“Wheels of Speed and Spirit: Odisha Skating Championship Begins in Jeypore Prakash Vidyalaya school.”

The much-awaited 5th Odisha State Ranking Roller Skating Racing Championship 2025 along with the 2nd Odisha Inter-School Roller Skating Racing Championship 2025 commenced today with great enthusiasm at Prakash Vidyalaya, Jeypore.

The two-day sporting extravaganza is being organized under the banner of the Koraput District Roller Sports Association (KDRSA), bringing together young talents and professional skaters from across the state.

The opening ceremony was held at 8 AM on Sunday, September 28, 2025, amidst a vibrant gathering of athletes, parents, coaches, and dignitaries.

The event was inaugurated by Chief Guest Sj. Tara Prasad Bahinipati, Hon’ble MLA of Jeypore, who lauded the efforts of organizers for promoting roller skating in the tribal-dominated Koraput region and emphasized the importance of sports in youth development.

Adding further grace to the occasion, the Guests of Honor included Sj. Pabitra Saunta, Hon’ble MLA of Laxmipur, and Sj. Narendra Kumar Mohanty, Chairperson of Jeypore Municipality. Both highlighted the role of skating in encouraging fitness, discipline, and competitive spirit among school children and young athletes.

Speaking on the occasion, the dignitaries stressed the need for more sporting infrastructure in South Odisha to nurture local talents who can represent the state and the nation in national and international platforms.

Participants: Skaters from various districts and schools across Odisha, The organizing committee, led by Nimish Sharma (Odisha State Coordinator), Ashutosh Nanda (KDRSA Secretary), Narendra Sahani (Event Coordinator), K Sai Kiran (Head Coach), and Sunny (School Coordinator), ensured meticulous planning for smooth conduct of the championship.

The event is expected to witness intense races, skillful performances, and thrilling competition, with hundreds of young skaters vying for top honors. Winners will earn not only medals but also a chance to strengthen their rankings at the state level.

Parents and sports enthusiasts from Jeypore and nearby areas have thronged the venue, creating a festive sporting atmosphere in the city.

The championship is another milestone in the journey of Koraput Skating, which has been steadily working to popularize roller sports in the region. Over the years, local skaters have made their mark at state and national levels, and this event is expected to further inspire budding talents.

The two-day championship will conclude on 29th September 2025 with the medal ceremony and closing function, celebrating the achievements of Odisha’s young skating champions.
