Accused Arrested Within 24 Hours in Theft Case at Hatpada, Jeypore.
Swift action by the Jeypore Town Police led to the arrest of a youth involved in a major theft incident that took place at the Parfedhwil Scan Shop located in Hatpada within just 24 hours of the crime.
According to police sources, the shop owner had lodged a complaint at the Jeypore Town Police Station alleging that unidentified miscreants had broken the shop’s shutter late on the night of October 6 and decamped with cash and goods worth several lakhs of rupees.
Acting on the complaint, Town Police Station Officer Ullas Chandra Rout, along with SI Sidhant Behera and their team, reached the spot and began an immediate investigation. The team meticulously examined the CCTV footage installed in and around the shop premises, which provided crucial leads in identifying the suspect.
Following the technical analysis of the footage and local inquiries, the police successfully apprehended the accused, identified as Ajit Beniya (19), a resident of Babu Sunari Colony, Dangguda, under Jeypore Police Station limits.
During the arrest, police recovered stolen items including nine new pick-up van tyres, eleven new bike tyres (EFZ brand), and one Lenovo laptop from the possession of the accused.
The police have registered a case under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code, and the accused has been forwarded to court.
IIC Town Police Ullas Chandra Rout said:-
“We acted promptly based on the complaint and were able to nab the accused within 24 hours of the incident. This quick detection reflects our commitment to maintaining law and order and ensuring justice for the victims.”
“Despite being continuously engaged in Durga Puja duties, the police personnel devoted their full time and effort to recover my stolen items. I am extremely grateful to the Jeypore Town Police for their swift and dedicated action,” said A. Srinu, the complainant.
Srinu further requested the public to remain vigilant and cooperate with the police, adding, “I request all locals to immediately report any theft or suspicious activity to the nearest police station and ensure that CCTV cameras are installed at their shops and houses for safety.”
The successful detection of the case within such a short span has earned appreciation from local residents, who lauded the efficiency and dedication of the police team.
