Koraput Bags National Recognition for Millet Promotion 🌾

Koraput district has added yet another feather to its cap by receiving the “Best Performing District Award” for exceptional work in millet promotion at the International Symposium on Shree Anna & Women Farmer  2025.

The prestigious award was presented in the presence of Hon’ble Chief Minister, Hon’ble Minister of Agriculture, Government of India, and Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister, who felicitated the district for its outstanding efforts in reviving and scaling up millet cultivation under the flagship Odisha Millets Mission (OMM).

Speaking on the occasion, Collector & District Magistrate, Koraput, expressed heartfelt gratitude to all stakeholders and said:

 “This recognition belongs to the hardworking farmers of Koraput, especially our women cultivators, who have shown how traditional wisdom, scientific intervention, and community participation can together drive nutritional and economic transformation. The millet movement in Koraput is not just about crops — it’s about empowerment, sustainability, and pride in our indigenous food heritage. We are committed to further strengthening this mission and ensuring Koraput continues to lead by example.”

He also lauded the efforts of the District Agriculture Office, Watershed and Mission Shakti teams, NGOs, and SHG members for their tireless contribution in expanding millet cultivation, ensuring market linkages, and promoting millet-based enterprises.
